Dear PWN Family,
Today, Inauguration Day 2025, is a difficult day for our communities to say the least, but we are here to remind you that no single administration or political figurehead will change our steadfast commitment to justice and freedom. Today is also, more importantly, a day to honor the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose legacy reminds us that: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” Our fight is not in vain, and our collective power can and will be the change we need.
The HIV community has always been a powerful example of resilience. The HIV movement never waited for justice to come, we have fought for it. In the face of stigma, discrimination, criminalization, and systemic barriers, we have stood together, demanding the care, rights, and equity we all deserve. Drawing from the teachings and example of Dr. King, we know that progress is born from courage and unity, and that, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
At this moment, when so much in the world feels uncaring and uncertain, let us draw strength and inspiration from Dr. King’s belief in the transformative power of love and unity. Let us remember and reclaim the radical legacy of Dr. King. Let us lean on one another for support, united in our courage–not just for ourselves as women and gender diverse folks living with HIV, but for every community impacted by oppression and inequity. As we continue our fight, let us center love for ourselves, for our people, and for those yet to join this movement.
On this day, we continue Dr. King’s legacy by rejecting hate and building a movement rooted in love, justice, and radical care for one another. We recommit ourselves to the work ahead, and celebrate the incredible power of our community. We will continue to rise, lead, and uplift one another, and get through the next four years, together.
With solidarity and strength,
Marnina & Keiva
