A short story by jessi Mona Cartwright-Biggs
The colors were tranquil. So many bright, bold and sweet smelling hues. I felt I could touch them all! Oh! That magic! Flying from one to another. The brightness covered my whole tiny body, as I land on one and then another.
It brought a big smile to my heart! Like my Fairy Godmother use to do. She too, was so full of magic and life. So precious was she, that everything nice, sweet, soft and warm could be felt from her very presence. She always called to me just before Noon…LuLu! Oh LuLu! Come to me.
As the clock in the Town Square struck 12, all the tiny little girls began to sing at the very top of their small, tiny lungs… Oh Happy Day! They sang and sang and sang.
When the town folks heard the melody, they all stopped. They were in awe. Who could that be? What could that be, they thought? That warm, sweet sound coming from the Town Square?
As the town folks found their way to the Square, the melody became clearer and sweeter. Hardly able to contain their stride and curiosity, their itsy, bitsy feet began to move faster and faster. All the town folks were running and pushing and falling and tripping and bumping each other as they rushed to be first… First?
For what would cause a whole big town of very tiny people to want that more than anything else?
While the tiny little girls continued to sang, Oh Happy Day! a wide angelic smile was upon them. It was really a wide, wide, wide smile! It covered every part of their being. It warmed them with love.
As the town folks finally entered the Town Square… The bright light begin to blind them. The light was so bright, not only did it nearly blind them, it warmed them all over!
Finally, the itsy bitsy feet began to slow down. The running, pushing, falling, tripping and bumping came to a halt.
They all froze in their little steps, still blinded and warmed by the bright light. The tiny little girls with their angelic voices could still be heard, very clear and warm.
The little town folks however, weren’t able to see them. They could feel them, but they couldn’t touch them.
But the voices, the voices touched them all! Oh Happy Day!
The End.
