The NMAC/AIDS.gov Social Media Lab is a space where you can get free, one-on-one training that is customized to your specific questions or needs – or come by just to charge your mobile devices! Book an appointment online or just stop by.   Thursday, October 2 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Sapphire Ballroom, Level 4 Opening Plenary Breakfast: The Impact of HIV/AIDS in the Latino Community: A Silent Epidemic PWNer and international social media maven Maria Mejia will be part of a distinguished panel of presenters at the opening event of the conference.

10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., 311 A, Level 3 Unspoken: Sexuality, Romance and Reproductive Freedom for US Women Living with HIV PWN-USA’s National Training and Leadership Director Vanessa Johnson, and Reproductive Justice and HIV Legal Fellow Nerissa Irizarry, will present findings from PWN-USA’s groundbreaking 2013 report.

2:30 – 5:30 p.m., 300 A, Level 3 Digital Storytelling in the HIV Community – Multi-Generational and Multicultural Perspectives on Social Media Engagement Maria Mejia will again present in a seminar session sponsored by Janssen Therapeutics.

2:30 – 5:30 p.m., 411 AB, Level 4 HIV is Not a Crime:  The Latest Facts on HIV Criminalization and What They Mean to You Iowa-based PWN-USA member Tami Haught, who led the advocacy effort to modernize her state’s HIV-specific criminal law, will lead this dynamic seminar.   Friday, October 3 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., Aqua D, Level 3 Update: Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS PWNer Grissel Granados will join fellow PACHA members on the panel for this seminar on PACHA’s work since the 2010 release of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, and discuss how PACHA’s work pertains to many aspects of the epidemic.

9:30 – 11:30 a.m., 2440 3rd Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101 (offsite event!) An amazing San Diego-based women-focused HIV organization, Christie’s Place, is having an open house. Please consider checking this out – you will be inspired! Christie’s Place staff will be giving tours of the agency and talking about the services that we provide to women, children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS in San Diego County. Light refreshments will be served. We are located about two miles from the conference venue in the Bankers Hill neighborhood just a few blocks from Balboa Park. Saturday, October 4 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., Aqua D, Level 3 An Online Mapping and Data Visualization Tool to Focus HIV Prevention, Diagnosis, and Care and Treatment Efforts in the Most Highly Impacted U.S. Cities PWN-USA Board of Directors Chair and Vice-Chair Barb Cardell and Sharon DeCuir will be presenting about AIDSVu and how they use this online mapping tool in their advocacy and work.

2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Aqua AB, Level 3 Addressing the Effects of Violence and Abuse to Improve the Continuum of Care for Women Living with HIV PWN-USA Executive Director Naina Khanna presents on this vital topic with Erin Falvey of Christie’s Place and Dr. Edward Machtinger, director of the UCSF Women’s HIV Program.
