PWN is thrilled to offer a program designed specifically to offer social support and community-building for cis and trans women living with HIV: #PWNCares Sister Circle. We know that the covid-19 pandemic is causing even more isolation than usual for women and people of trans experience living with HIV. In-person support groups have been canceled, for those who had them in the first place. Services have been scaled back and convenings that women living with HIV looked forward to are being canceled, postponed, or taken online. In light of all of this, we started up a new virtual support group.
Using our innovative #PWNCares multimedia series by and for cis and trans women living with HIV, care and service providers, advocates, and others working with women living with HIV will have the resources not only to spark meaningful discussions about some of the most pressing issues we face after an HIV diagnosis, but also to connect with national, state, and local networks of women thriving with HIV through PWN. We will be offering opportunities to connect virtually with other women living with HIV around the country during virtual community events throughout the year.
We hosted an orientation webinar Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
This webinar introduced participants to the #PWNCares series and the resources available; gave best practices and pro tips for using the series in support groups, events, or meetings; explained the opportunities for women living with HIV introduced to PWN through the Sister Circle to get involved in this thriving community; and outlined some major activities for 2020.
