February 18, 2021 – HIV Decriminalization Must Be Included in EHE Plans
In many jurisdictions of the End of the Epidemic initiative, HIV decriminalization and other issues elevated by people living with HIV have been ignored. This webinar provided an overview of the often opaque EHE planning process and clarify where and how HIV decriminalization language and metrics show up in EHE plans. It will provide steps to encourage planning councils to include HIV decriminalization in advocacy efforts, with practical examples from our panel of women involved in EHE planning and experienced advocating in support of HIV decriminalization.

December 16, 2020 – State Legislative Advocacy Series #2. Issue-Based Advocacy
The second webinar in PWN’s State Legislative Advocacy Training Series, on issue-based advocacy from a racial and gender justice lens, included presenters from Positive Women’s Network Colorado and Colorado Organizations and Individuals Responding to HIV/AIDS (CORA) who will share how they got a bill increasing access to PrEP passed in the 2020 Colorado legislative session, including specific examples of:
- community engagement as the bill was drafted,
- testimony at committee hearings,
- suggested revisions to be more inclusive of women and rural communities,
- mobilizing before the vote on the senate floor, and
- pushing the governor to sign the bill.

August 6, 2020 – #PWNCares Sister Circle Community Event: U=U and Me
A person living with HIV who maintains an undetectable viral load through adherence to effective treatment cannot transmit HIV to their sexual partners. Period. Even without condoms.
This is life-changing–and potentially lifesaving–information, grounded in scientific fact and proven over and over again by multiple large-scale studies. The word is finally getting out, even though unfortunately many medical providers are still not telling their patients diagnosed with HIV.
All people living with HIV deserve to know the facts about our bodies, the condition we live with, and what we can do to stay healthy and to prevent our partners from acquiring HIV.

June 17, 2020 – #PWNVotesByMail: Mobilizing Our Communities to Vote by Mail in 2020
No one should have to choose between putting their health at risk and exercising their right to vote. Yet some political leaders are taking advantage of COVID-19 to suppress the vote. We need to mobilize for new or expanded ways to vote, including voting by mail. Elections matter. Voting should not put our lives at risk. Universal vote by mail is rare, but every state has an absentee ballot option. Ensuring the safety of our communities as we get out the vote will be critical this year. Expanding the right to vote by mail is a safe and effective option for our upcoming elections. Current voter disenfranchisement efforts include decreasing the number of polling locations, restricting hours, and limiting access to public transportation, especially in lower income areas and communities of color. Choosing our elected officials is a right. We need to ensure that it is as simple and accessible as possible!

Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing the negative consequences associated with drug or alcohol use. Effective harm reduction strategies consist of a minimum of five aspects: respect, compassion, collaboration, empowerment, and acceptance.

communicating information about HIV and HIV criminalization, it is important to be
thoughtful about using correct, accurate language and educating readers or viewers
about what we know about HIV today in order to effectively deliver your desired message
without contributing to stigma and misinformation.

In this webinar, we explore what trans-centered reproductive justice could and should look like, centering the experiences, needs, and power of people of trans experience. Transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary (TGNC) people face discrimination in all aspects of life, from housing to health care, from public accommodation to policing, from employment to education. Such pervasive discriminatory practice and policies create a heightened vulnerability to violence and makes the ability to form family in a safe and sustainable community especially challenging.

In our first webinar of the PWN Block Party series, we study three moments in organizing history power of everyday people to impact social change. America is in the midst of an unprecedented assault on reproductive freedom that impacts people at home and abroad. This webinar focuses on some of the tools that the state has used to chip away at abortion access in the U.S. and beyond. May 23, 2019 – Ending Violence against Women and Folks of Trans Experience living with HIV
This webinar explores how institutional racism and structural inequity create heightened vulnerability to violence, both from other people and from the state, for women and people of trans experience living with HIV. We discuss steps that you can take to push for restorative justice over punitive practices and healing over trauma.
Women and people of trans experience living with HIV are disproportionately affected by violence at the interpersonal, community, and structural level. Living with HIV may in itself be a risk factor for violence and emotional abuse in relationships. Gun violence and violence against women of trans experience are forms of community violence that personally impact many of our members and loved ones. Sexism, racism, HIV stigma, transphobia, racist policing and immigration enforcement practices, and mass incarceration are just some forms of structural violence that perpetuate trauma for the majority of women living with HIV in the U.S. This webinar is an important tool for anyone who wants to understand, and advocate to end, these forms of violence against women and people of trans experience living with HIV.

April 18, 2019 – These Trees Cast No Shade: Understanding HIV Phylogenetics Research
Phylogenetics is the study of evolutionary relationships among biological entities (involving diagrams called phylogenetic trees). This is one of the ways that researchers are using HIV genetic sequencing to approach research questions about HIV cure, prevention, and treatment. In this second webinar in the series, Dr. Carl Dieffenbach will explain phylogenetics, how it is being used in HIV research, and how the communities most impacted by HIV are being prioritized in this research. Venita Ray will then share recommendations for conducting this research ethically.

February 27, 2019 – Without Our Consent: Centering People Living with HIV in HIV Genetic Sequencing
This first webinar in the series will focus on HGS from the perspectives of people living with HIV.
