Celebrating 14 Years of PWN! |
We can’t believe Positive Women’s Network is already fourteen years old! Time flies when you’re building community, training leaders, and scoring victories for our people! To celebrate our birthday, PWN members and staff shared some of their favorite PWN moments. |
Check out our 2021 Impact Report! |
In June 2008, 28 diverse women and trans folks living with HIV founded PWN to build collective power for our communities. In 2021 we honored our founders’ vision by consistently elevating a racial and gender justice analysis, training more than 6000 advocates, investing deeply in the South, paying 142 people living with HIV for their work, running a virtual support group, moving more than $50,000 directly to PWN chapters, delivering thousands of dollars in direct assistance to members in need, and leading policy victories in eight states and at the federal level. We couldn’t be more proud of and inspired by everything our members and staff have accomplished. Read all about it here. |

The Underground Woman: From Prisoner to Freedom
Over 36 million people worldwide are living with HIV and many go through great lengths to keep their HIV status a secret due to societal stigma, discrimination and rejection. PWN member, Asha Molock, is one of those millions and in her memoir, The Underground Woman, she divulges how she kept her HIV status a secret from family and friends for ten years. Fearful and ashamed, Asha lived metaphorically underground before spiraling through a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening. Asha recovers her strength and courage, fostering friendships and alliances within the HIV community, which helped her to emerge to the surface to stand in her truth and disclose her HIV status. Thriving with a newfound passion as an HIV advocate, she learns to live an authentic life. |
