The PWN-USA Communications Action Team (CAT) workgroup develops and prepares women living with HIV to further their advocacy and help win their campaigns through strategic use of media and social media. We meet once a month by conference call as well as communicating over email. CAT members get training and skills-building, as well as opportunities to train others and share their views through media and social media. Each regional chapter should have at least one official SCAT rep at all times (two, or a primary and an alternate, is preferred). Regional chapter CAT reps help facilitate internal communications for the chapter; manage the chapter’s social media; relay updates about their chapter’s activities to the CAT group and information from CAT calls to their chapter; develop messaging and talking points for their advocacy campaigns; and develop media and social media strategy for their chapter’s advocacy campaigns. CAT reps will always be supported by the Communications Director, chapter co-chairs and the CAT whenever needed.
