PWN is committed to
centering the experience and building the power and leadership of women and transgender/gender non conforming people living with HIV with an emphasis on people of color, to change policy, practice and culture for the benefit of our communities. To do this, we need to build the political power of our base and allied constituencies by engaging more deeply and more widely. Specifically, we believe this means deepening the bench of leaders who are skilled organizers and thought leaders on policy and cultural issues important to women and transgender people living with HIV in the U.S., while increasing our ability to mobilize advocates to take action quickly, especially in key states and Congressional districts.

PWN is committed to responding to attacks on our community with all our political and personal capital. We are also deeply committed to intersectional analysis; racial, economic and gender justice; bottom-up organizing and the belief that lived experience drives expertise. In practice this means we value meaningful representation from the communities that will be most impacted by an issue or decision, taking leadership from those communities, and analyzing potential impacts holistically, especially as they will be experienced by Black women and women of color, women of trans experience, low-income women living with HIV, and women from the U.S. South and territories.
