What’s going on?

Y’all, we’re facing another government shutdown THIS FRIDAY. Congressional Republicans are using this moment to try to force a dangerous bill to extend funding through September 30, known as long-term continuing resolution (CR). The Republican long-term CR has no guardrails. It will effectively pave the way for the Trump administration to steal, cut, and move more money away from essential programs that our people need. The Republican CR would cut billions in funding, jeopardizing Social Security and cutting housing, healthcare and food assistance. We know who will be harmed most: Black and Brown people, queer and trans people, immigrants, poor and working class people, people with disabilities – the very same communities already underresourced, overpoliced, and under attack.

Congress can stop this by saying NO to the Republican long-term continuing resolution. They should pass their own short-term CR to give negotiators more time to reach a funding deal that protects HIV funding and access to essentials, like healthcare, housing, food, and education.
