ABOUT POSITIVE WOMEN’S NETWORK – TEXAS – GREATER HOUSTON AREA
Positive Women’s Network USA-Texas, Greater Houston Area (PWN-GHA) chapter is a reproductive justice organization led by and for women, trans, & gender diverse people living with HIV and their allies. We created H-Town Power to organize and build power for Black and brown communities in Houston. We show up unapologetically alongside allies and accomplices to fight suppression and liberate Texas.
OUR ISSUE
Our chapter wants the DA/sheriff candidates to publicly commit to not criminalizing people seeking, providing, or assisting abortions in Harris County. We want to build a list of voters who support protecting abortion access and use this info to pressure candidates. By the end of the campaign we want to connect with people who support our issue and educate voters about the harms of criminalizing health issues.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS KEEP US SAFE.
PWN-TX, GHA is collaborating with the Public Safety Project to transform our justice system by actively working to reduce the harm caused by mass incarceration. We dream of a Harris County where people feel safe, empowered, and cared for through accountability and compassion within our criminal legal system.
We would like the Harris County DA to:
– Dismiss low-level offenses
– Pursue pre-arrest diversion
– Protect reproductive rights
– Hold quarterly townhalls
We would like the Harris County Sheriff to:
– Protect domestic violence survivors
– Prohibit SB 4 enforcement
– Increase safety for jailed residents
– Hold quarterly town halls
Join us in creating a brighter, interconnected future for all by signing the petition with our demands to the Harris County DA & Sheriff.
